"Discovery" Travel Club has full range of excursions round the city and its
museums. It is up to you which one to choose: we have professionally guided tours by car
and we have budget options like walking tours around downtown. Our goal is to show how
magnificent our city is to all of our visitors.
Vladivostok is a wonderful, very fast-growing city. "The Guardian" precisely
defined Vladivostok by calling it Metropolis at the end of the world! And
it is really true!
General city tour excursion is a must for all travelers. You'll see historical downtown
and business areas of the city. You'll have a chance to visit The Square of the Fighters,
oldest streets, Railway station and Marine terminal, renovated Embankment Street and old
submarine C-56, Imperial Triumphal Arch and many other interesting things. Our guides will
inform you about history of the city and its present life. If you have an opportunity and
time we invite you to largest museum of Vladivostok Arsenyev museum.
It was renovated last year and it welcomes city's guests to find out more about
Vladivostok and Primorye. Arsenyev life in the Far East was a sort of expedition which
lasted for almost 30 years. He walked tens of thousands kilometers through the virgin
Ussury taiga, many times he sailed the sea, traveling to Sakhalin, Kamchtka, the Kuril
Islands and Hokkaido (Japan). An academy-winner movie (Best Foreign Language Film, 1975)
"Dersu Uzala" by famous Japanese producer Akira Kurosawa tells story about
Arsenyev and its friend Dersu, so you have unique chance to give a touch to the history
and learn more about these brave people and region they explored.
The Square of the Fighters is located in downtown and it is the
biggest sculpture group in Vladivostok. The Square of the Fighters was meant for
celebratory banners, government speakers and for triumphal demonstrations and marches. It
serves right now as the testing ground for political battles, by turns providing its arena
for proponents of various political leaders and manifestations and when it happens the
square looks militant and resolute.
Viewing point Eagles Nest near Funicular is one of the most beloved
places among tourists and definitely one of the most wonderful places to take pictures.
The history says that the highest point of the city got its name after first settlers
found eagles nest with eaglets on the top of the hill.
Our second choice will be Vladivostok fortification system as we are a city of
fortresses. There is no secret that might of nation is historically judged by its navy.
The force of navy is estimated by the state of its battleships and fortifications.
Vladivostok fortification city is ranked as the world's best maritime defense system! You
will have a chance to see a real legend which was closed for many years even for Russian
citizens but nowadays you will be able to see collections of aircraft guns of Pacific Navy
at Bezymiannaya (Nameless) battery, one of the oldest fortifications of
Vladivostok Fortress which was restored and works as a museum. (Useful tip: come here at
noon as canoon booms everyday at 12 o'clock).
Yet, Bezymiannaya battery is not the only interesting object. After building of
powerful batteries on Russkiy Island in 1909-1914, Bezymiannaya battery has lost the
battle value and we invite you to visit forts which were built afterward.
Fortifications of second line of defense of Vladivostok fortress are interesting
because they were copied from the shore facilities of another Russian fortress at Pacific,
Port Arthur (Lu-Shun).
If you have an opportunity visit Fort #7. You will go 25 meters
underground, explore artillery system, get acquainted with life and conditions of Russian
soldiers in the beginning of 19th century, hear breathtaking stories about GULAG prisoners
and take you best pictures of Vladivostok from upper frontier line!
Also we invite you to visit the only Russia's Museum of Automobile Antiques.
We could not post all possible excursions, so we quote shortly most popular ones. If
you have special interests and requests feel free to write us!
