There is no any place in Russia that will be worth visiting more that this region. It is definitely what people call THE PLACE. But what makes it so remarkable?

Primorskiy Krai is located in the southeastern corner of the Far East, bordered by North Korea, China, and warm, non-freezing waters of Sea of Japan. Although the territory of the Krai is considered to be of the average size it is bigger than Belgium, Holland, Denmark and Switzerland combined together. It consists of 24 districts, like pieces of jigsaw each of them unique in its own way, with southern beaches and western lakes, eastern forests and northern snows.

Primorskiy Krai territory spreads from the mainland to multiple islands, with propitious landscapes and enchanting sea chores; only when you watch the sun going down with its reflection being multiplied by whispering tidal waves with seagulls slicing deep blue sky with their wings, only then you realize what a wild island is.

It also could be about the abundance of wildlife, including Amur tiger and Black bear, lynx and wild boar or maybe because of its wild beaches with crystal clear waters and sea -huge aquarium where underwater life from all oceans is mixed together.

Most of its territory is mountainous and almost 80% is forested. But sometimes trees can hide something rather magic. For example a popular peak Pedan is well known for mysterious and unexplainable things that happen there. A lot of people are attracted to this place not only because it so spiritual, but because it is the only place with so mnay butterflies. Let's point out that this "butterfly" world is so diverse: dark navy and green, delicate aquamarine, fire red wings everywhere turn surrounding forest into some exotic jungles.

In the southern part of Krai you can find karst caves and fragments of ancient volcanoes, arousing images of flames and lava, pouring down the slopes. The ranges are cut by the picturesque narrow and deep valleys of the rivers and by large brooks, washing its waters through the emerald green forests, hiding their own mysteries and secrets.

Primorskiy Krai is not only rich with its rivers, but it has got more than 3000 lakes, including Lake Khanka, which is one of the biggest lakes in Asia. You understand how wonderful t is when you set your eyes on the lake that is covered with magnificent lotuses, pale pink petals like precious clinging fabric and when you see hundred thousands of birds taking off to the sky and turning into the clouds.

Interesting fact it is that many of the species and forms of vegetation of the Primorski Krai are not found anywhere else in Russia. Ancient species such as yew, willow, cork, aralia, ginseng, limmonik, dimorphant and various species of fern are well known. In the Khasansky District in the far south, there are up to one hundred species of rare and endangered plants. These include the Manchurian apricot, actinidia, Japanese arizema, several species of bashmak, ginseng andmnay others.

Primorskiy Krai is not only rich with its nature treasures but also with its history, archeology and culture. There are more than 2000 historical monuments found on its territory as Primorskiy Krai is the historical birth place of many native tribes who belong to the Tungus-Manchu group, such as the Udege, Nanai and Oroches, whose forefathers pioneered the territory since the Paleolithic. So don't be surprised if walking through the forest you will catch a glimpse of a ancient mysterious stones, you could be standing in the center of the beautiful town that was ruined thousand of years ago.

Primorskiy Krai is one of the few places where the forests are still pristine, comparable in terms of possibility to a tropical jungle. The climate conditions of the Krai are also extraordinary. All this makes Primorskiy Krai one of the unique regions of the Earth, and it undoubtedly must excite the interest of all lovers of nature and those willing to test their strength.
